Lafayette School Government Department

Lafayette is a city located in Tippecanoe County, Indiana and has a population of approximately 100,000 residents. John Rogers, who named the city after Lafayette, France, founded the city on March 1, 1824. In 1825 the town was incorporated into the state of Indiana. It is home to Purdue University, which is one of the largest universities in the United States. The university offers over 200 different degree programs ranging from business to education to engineering. You can also find many other colleges and universities nearby, such as Ivy Tech Community College and Ball State University, Indiana Wesleyan University and DePauw University and Indiana State University. Valparaiso University is also within driving distance.
