Evolve Kitchens

Evolve Kitchens is a Calgary cabinet maker that designs and builds custom kitchen cabinets, including islands sized and styled to match the rest of the room. The company says its work reaches past the kitchen to basement wet bars, bathroom vanities and laundry rooms. Its website names shaker, traditional and modern among the styles it offers.

The company says it gives free quotes and backs its cabinets with a warranty. It describes itself as locally owned and operated. Its workshop sits in the northeast quadrant of Calgary, near the Calgary International Airport.

The shop keeps weekday hours, from 8 am to 4:30 pm. It holds a 4.9 rating across 43 Google reviews. Reviewers most often mention close attention to detail and quick, clear communication, and several say the crew kept to the agreed timeline and budget. Repeat clients, a builder and an interior designer are among those who write in.

The company reports that its cabinet boxes use Hard Rock Maple melamine from Tafisa, made in Canada entirely from recycled wood fibre, with no formaldehyde added. It lists 3/4 inch panels for the box and shelves, plus 1/2 inch backs. Those cabinets go into homes in a city that averages 419 mm of precipitation and 129 cm of snow a year, per Environment Canada normals for 1981 to 2010. Drawers are built in house from 1/2 inch Baltic birch plywood, which the company says is pressed from nine alternating plies.
